Definition: The Schedule Performance Index (SPI) is a project management metric used to measure the efficiency of time utilization in a project. SPI is calculated by dividing the Earned Value (EV) by the Planned Value (PV).

An SPI of 1 indicates the project is on schedule, while an SPI greater than 1 means the project is ahead of schedule. Conversely, an SPI below 1 signals delays.
